Hello, my name is Toqi Tahamid Sarker. I am currently working as a Research Assistant at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA, pursuing a PhD in Computer Science under the guidance of Dr. Khaled Ahmed. I am a member of BASE, a research lab focusing on Big Data and Software Engineering at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
Prior to this, I worked as a research assistant at Panacea Lab under the supervision of Dr. Juan M. Banda at Georgia State University, and published a paper in IEEE Big Data 2019.
I have a strong passion for applying deep learning techniques to address real-world challenges. I created a large-scale solar dataset with over 500,000 images to track solar events using deep learning. Furthermore, I achieved a top 17% ranking in The Nature Conservancy Fisheries Monitoring competition at Kaggle.
I also worked under the supervision of Mr. Moin Mostakim at BRAC University on a deep learning project as part of my undergraduate thesis requirement.
My research interests are:
- Object Detection/Tracking
- Computer Vision
- Applied Deep Learning
- Big Data Mining
